Sonisphere is a new touring festival for 2009. There are going to be 5 one day events across Europe (The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Finland) and ending with a final 2 day festival in the United Kingdon at Knebworth House. It's been created by K2 Tours & Kilimanjaro. The really cool thing is that K2 Tours is my uncle's (John Jackson) company.
To your left is the UK's line up so far. Pretty cool aye? I'm going to be there. I'm looking forward to Linkin Park, Metalica, Nine Inch Nails, Limp Bizkit, Feeder and Corey Taylor (solo) the most, although all the other bands should be pretty sweet!
Originally there was to only be the two stages but since the early annoucments another two stages have been added. The Bohemia stage and Jagermeister stage. Bohemia will provide entertainment earlier in the day and later into the night after the main stages have closed. The Jagermeister stage will actually be a converted militry truck but still a stage. This stage is set to show off new and unsigned bands.
A sitemap has now been put on the Sonisphere site.
A quite unique and awesome thing that Sonisphere will be doing is switching between the main stage and stage 2 so that you won't miss any of the headline acts. Such a simple idea that also reduces the time you have to wait between acts as one can be setting up while the others are playing. According to the Sonisphere website there might be clashes between the two main stages and the bohemia stage but they will try to avoid clashing any of the more popular bohemia acts (Corey Taylor is mentioned).

In an interview with NME he is quoted as saying "We’ll take Muse’s title of best live band in the world at Sonisphere". Quite a tough challenge he's laid down for the band but in my completely unbiased opinion (HAHA! I lie! I love Linkin Park) they should be able to do it. Another quote from that interview is "To perform there means you better show up with your kickass pants on". KICKASS PANTS! I want some of them!
The creator of NIN, Trent Reznow, has said that Sonisphere will be the last live gig that they'll ever play.
